The most expensive land listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $7 million, although the median price for land for sale in Alaska came in at $838,439. The average price of land and other rural acreage for sale in Alaska was $963,216. Alaska's epic landscape affords a similarly epic number of hunting opportunities for big game including moose, caribou and even brown bear. Obviously, with 83 percent of land in the state under public stewardship and outdoor recreation opportunities abound here in the Last Frontier. With numerous opportunities to hunt species including deer, boar and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Alaska. Of Alaska's 29 counties, Kenai Peninsula Borough had the most land for sale. Alaska is the country's largest state, covering an area of 656,424 square miles (420 million acres). Of its total landmass, 570,641 square miles (87 percent) is made up of land, while the remaining 94,743 square miles is made up of water.
